Avery Weigh-Tronix Strengthens Calibration Offering

Avery Weigh-Tronix are excited to announce two new appointments who bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience of providing hand tool equipment servicing and calibration to the aerospace, automotive and wider manufacturing industries.

John Buckley, Technical Manager and Tim Walker, Torque Tooling Specialist joined Avery Weigh-Tronix on 13th June 2022 and will be working with our customers to provide on-site hand-tool calibration services from our new mobile laboratories.

With 130 years of expertise in delivering calibrations to a range of industries, Calibration Select – a division of Avery Weigh-Tronix – offers a comprehensive metrology equipment calibration service.

Bringing John and Tim into the Avery Weigh-Tronix team will widen Calibration Select’s expertise in the calibration of torque equipment and SME tools commonly used within the aerospace, automotive and manufacturing sectors.

Andy Fox, Business Operations Director, Avery Weigh-Tronix, commented:

“These new appointments strengthen the level of service and expertise that we can offer our customers in the manufacturing sector, in particular for the automotive and aerospace industries. Our combined technical expertise and sector understanding, along with our extremely quick turnaround times, mean that we are well positioned to meet the needs of these very demanding industries.”

With quality, safety and performance at risk, the accurate calibration of metrology equipment is critical in the aerospace and automotive sectors. In these industries, the cost and impact of failure is high, exacting standards and strict regulatory requirements mean that aerospace and automotive customers must adhere to regular and reliable calibration schedules.

To meet these requirements, Avery Weigh-Tronix are offering a same day, on-site calibration service, which has been designed to reduce downtime and minimise disruption. Within minutes, the team can carry out calibrations, tests, and repairs on torque hand tools directly on the customer’s site (including line-side, if required) from our new mobile laboratories.

For calibrations carried out off-site at our Birmingham-based laboratory, a five-day turnaround is guaranteed.

Andy continued: “The cost of downtime in certain manufacturing sectors can quickly run into tens of thousands, making it vital that equipment is tested and calibrated on-time. It’s critical that having access to a swift turnaround is part of the service for our customers, and having this skillset in-house is a fundamental part of our service offering.”

Calibration Select also offers customers access to its asset management system, allowing quick and hassle-free access to calibration certificates.

The information includes details of the measurement results and procedures used for the calibration, ensuring that manufacturing customers can meet the industry’s strict documentation and traceability requirements.
