Covid-19 Coronavirus Service Continuity Plan
We’re still here for your metrology calibration requirements. Our Calibration Select laboratory remains open with all collection and drop off options operating as usual. If your site has special social distancing measures in place, please let us know when you place your order and our technicians will comply during the collection process.
We have established new social distancing measures of our own, including isolation of the laboratory area and additional sanitation regimes including the cleaning of all items as they arrive at the laboratory.
Customer Notification: Covid-19 Coronavirus Service Continuity Plan
*Updated July, 2021.
Dear Customer,
As the Government guidance continues to change across the UK and a new tier of lockdown measures are now in place in England, Scotland, Wales, Southern and Northern Ireland, we wanted to update you on the work we are doing to keep your weighing and metrology equipment operational and compliant. We’d like to reassure you that Avery Weigh-Tronix are continuing to operate as normal throughout the UK and Ireland, with no disruption to service, and that our customer equipment uptime and compliance remain a top priority, as does the safety of our employees.
All our employees have been requested to follow the government and NHS guidelines on self-isolation if either they, or a person they live with has displayed any Coronavirus symptoms. We have also requested the adherence to the travel advice outlined by the FCO in the UK and the DFA in Ireland for all our employees and contractors and all non-essential business travel has been postponed.
To support our new way of working, we have developed new safe working practices that we have sent to all of our customers. These Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS) are designed to ensure that our employees, while on our customer sites, remain safe and that you have assurance that our working practices meet your site’s COVID-19 health and safety requirements.
One of the key features of our new working practices for our field engineers is a 3-step approach to safe working. For every job we attend, we are asking our engineers three risk-based questions regarding working environment, PPE and safe working distances. If the answer to any of the questions is ‘NO’, then we will deem the job unsafe and will be unable to complete the work required. Our aim is to continue to support you with as little disruption to your service as possible, so in order for us to do this, we ask that you read and comply with our new RAMS to support our safe working, while our engineers are on your sites. We will continue to contact you prior to all appointments, so you can keep us informed of any new procedures you may have implemented since our last visit.
If you have concerns over our engineers attending site, but still have a critical need for calibration and repair, Avery Weigh-Tronix have a return-to-base laboratory which will provide an efficient turnaround for your equipment.
The equipment will be returned to you having been fully sanitised before leaving our site. If you are interested in finding out more about this service, please speak to one of our team members on
0845 900 22 44.
Our Calibration Select laboratory remains open with all collection and drop off options operating as usual, but with new social distancing measures in place, including isolation of the laboratory area for technician use and additional sanitation regimes.
Our head office and manufacturing facilities are operating in bubbles to protect those working within our premises, reducing the risk of transmission and increasing traceability should a COVID case arise. Our bubbles have been strictly separated to prevent any virus transmission between our working groups. Our operations and factory areas have undergone a transformation to ensure compliance to our new safety procedures. Two-metre markings are now in place across our factory floor and walkways, along with designated areas for handwashing and sanitising. Notices have been placed around our site to remind employees that social distancing must be adhered to at all times.
For customers needing to get in contact with us, our Service Response Centre team continues to work from our Birmingham head office to support your enquiries and schedule your engineer visits.
Our Technical Teams and Account Managers have all been provided with their own safe working practices along with the appropriate PPE to ensure they remain safe on customer sites. We continue to request that, where at all possible, all sales meetings and technical meetings should be carried out via telephone or video conferencing instead of face-to-face meetings.
We continue to not see any risk in our performance against our contractual obligations to you, should we be in a situation where our service becomes restricted, we will narrow our technician focus to repairs, emergency visits and calibrations, in order to maintain your product uptime and ensure your compliance for core quality procedures.
As we continue to receive regular government updates regarding the Coronavirus status, we will be working closely with our partners to ensure you are informed of any changes to our business continuity plan. Until then, we will endeavour to provide our usual high level of service and should you have any further queries regarding our support during this time, please do not hesitate to contact us on 0845 900 22 44.
Yours sincerely,
Pam Shields
